Rich and decadent - a flavor explosion in your mouth. Deep chocolate flavor with the sweet tang of cherries and cream cheese goodness.
Mix brownies according to box directions and bake. Let cool completely.
Make cream cheese frosting mix by creaming together butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add in the vanilla and then the powdered sugar. Add milk until it's spreading consistency. Spread cream cheese frosting over the top of the cooled brownies. (This yielded more frosting than needed for the recipe, so we refrigerated the leftovers)
Make the ganache by combining the chocolate chips along with the heavy cream in the microwave -- cook on high for 1-2 minutes or until the chocolate melts and you can stir the two together to combine thoroughly. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool to room temperature prior to proceeding with recipe.
Spread cooled ganache over the top of the cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until ganache firms up a bit. Once firm, spread the cherry pie filling over the chocolate layer, and store in fridge until ready to serve.
