Super easy to make Spanish Rice
"Very good and simple mexican rice recipe. The tomato sauce is a little heavy, but not overwhelming, next time I may tone it down a hair. It was definitly a simple, quick, and easy recipe to make for a nice mexican meal! I served it with some black beans, and some leftover tequilla lime grilled chicken, a recipe that I also found from this site!"- ChefHoss

Brown rice in oil on med-high heat.
Add onions and tomato sauce. Mix well but don't over mix!
Add chicken broth, water, garlic salt and cumin.
Taste for appropriate seasoning (everyone is different!)
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer on med-low heat for about 20 min or until all the water is gone.

MauraSpeckt 1 weeks agoThis was OK. I think it would not hurt to add a little more seasoning to it all, just to bring the flavor out. The garlic salt AND the broth makes it too salty I would just use garlic powder. Otherwise not bad.

mogriff1 4 months agoReally good! I used olive oil and I used a half can of tomato paste for the recipe (which I split in half). I also used all chicken stock, no water. Fresh garlic gave it a nice flavor too! Will make this again for sure!
Porpo83 5 months agoI added pigeon peas about 2/3 of a can and 1 tablespoon of sliced salad olives. Olive oil about 1/4 cup or so was used to cook rice translucent with onion. At that point, all other ingredients including olives and pigeon peas were added.

HeatherAPipkin 7 months agoCut the recipe in half an it came out amazing. I've attempted Spanish rice before and always failed miserably. I added cumin, garlic, salt, pepper and a little cayenne before simmering.

carlsonrodriguez 1 year agoI am the worst cook ever and my mexican american husband introduced me to this. Thank you so much! Now I have something to cook other than baked chicken and pintos! This is soooo good and my 4 kids enjoy it as well.

SheilaMarieLucero1964 1 year agoI tried this recipe after so many failed attempts to make it myself, it was a hit with my kids who are all adults. I was amazed how great it truly was!!!! I love it.
jenniferklorerjagneaux 1 year agoSuper easy, and it tastes amazing!! Side note: the total yield is good for parties or very large families. It was WAY too much for the four of us.
stacey963 1 year agoI might also add that it did sound a bit bland to me so the first time I tried it I added Rotel tomato sauce that i bought by accident instead of the plain. It gives it a bit of spice, but it's quite mellow.
Blondie4u 2 years agoSecond time I made this!! It came out peeerfect! I squeezed some lime on top and baaaam! It was all over lol!!! Thanx again!!!
Lindacparrott1 2 years agoVery good rice. I added some cilantro. And my garlic salt had parsley in it. Turned out REALLY good and was easy.
