Outback Steakhouse Steak Seasoning

Recipes »  Marinades and Sauces  »  Marinade

This steak seasoning recipe is easy and makes a delicious complement to your grilled or broiled steak. The seasoning is very tasty!

"It's been a while since I''ve had a steak at an Outback so I can''t comment on how close the spice is to theirs but it sure added some good flavour to the steak I had tonight. Half the recipe is enough for two reaonable sized steaks. The company I have been buying my steak seasoning from just lost my business."

1 teaspoonSalt
2 teaspoonPaprika
1 teaspoonFreshly-ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoonOnion powder
1/2 teaspoonGarlic powder
1/4 teaspoonground coriander
1/4 teaspoonGround Turmeric
1/2 teaspoonGround Cumin
1/8 teaspoonGround cayenne pepper; OPTIONAL!!!

Outback Steakhouse Steak Seasoning Preparation

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl.

To prepare steaks with this seasoning: Preheat a flat grill or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Sprinkle some of the seasoning blend over both sides of each cut of beef.

Grill the steaks on each side to your desired level of doneness. Be sure to use tongs to sear all the edges of each steak to a rich brown color.

This recipe yields about 8 teaspoons of seasoning.

I recommend making serving and trying it out. If you like it, make a large batch and keep it in a container.

Notes

I updated this AGAIN to half the salt from 1 teaspoon to a 1/2 teaspoon as noted in some of the comments and added Ground Cumin to even out the flavor blend.

Wouldn't consider making my sirloin steaks without it. As good, if not better than Outback.

Made this for my husband, mom and three steak loving kids. What a hit. I added a teaspoon of coriander and a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Very very delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we made a huge batch and canned it for future us

Better than outback. Family loves it. Might to try on other meat too!

I really like the flavor of this seasoning blend. I tripled the volumes so that we had enough to keep the blend readily available (we're serious carnivors here). I cut the cayenne down a bit and, after tripling the recipe, added a dash of Old Bay Seasoning. We love it!

Used it on chicken and my 3 year old ate finally ate a whole piece of meat! Was hoping it would taste like the seasoning outback uses on their chicken, but it's different. Really good though. whatwhy

I made this seasoning tonight, also reduced the salt by half. Then grilled rib-eye steaks over coals w/ applewood chips. Served with roasted bell peppers, onions and garlic bread. Fantastic seasoning. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! Used this on steaks AND burgers! So flavorful. Honestly, I will use this every time I grill from now on. Try it on your burgers!
