I was reluctant to use the HOT sausage since one of my kids is a spice wimp. But it was a must have part of the recipe and didn't make the dish too spicy at all.
I made some minor changes:
1. 3 T tomato paste instead of 1
2. 2-3 T Italian Seasoning instead of fresh basil (which I didn't have)
3. 2 C mozz cheese" - Thekidsmom1224

Pasta Baked with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cheese Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook pasta according to package directions but omitting salt and fat - drain and set aside.
Remove casings from sausage. Cook sausage, oninon, garlic in large nonstick skillet over med heat until sausage is browned and crumbles. Add tomato paste, salt, pepper, and diced tomatoes to pan and bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 min, stirring occasionally.
Combine cooked pasta, sausage mixture and basil. Place half of the pasta mixture in a 4quart casserole coated with cooking spray. Top with half of mozzerella and half of parmesan. Repeat layers. Bake at 350 for 25 min or until bubbly.
