This is not a food to eat, but it is a really fun gift to present to preschool and young elementary age children. Better yet, have them make it themselves! My son and I made these one year to give as a gift to his pre-K classmates. The teachers kept and used them the following year as an activity for the children to make themselves. Fast forward seven years and my daughter is using this recipe for her pre-school crowd as a make-your-own holiday craft.
To the baggie add:
oatmeal, 1 pinch each green, red and gold glitter and 5 or 6 confetti stars. Print the following poem on red computer paper and cut into a strip to fit into the baggie.
Magic Christmas Eve Dust:
Santa makes many stops before the light of dawn.
Sometimes he needs extra help, to find each and every lawn.
Sprinkle this dust throughout the yard on Christmas Eve day.
The oats will draw the reindeer and the stars will light the way.
OR:
place ingredients into bowls allowing the children to make their own.
