Original recipe makes 9
4 cupsflour
1/4 cupsugar
1 tspsalt
1 tspbaking powder
1/4 cupmargarine
2 cupsseedless raisins
1 1/3 cupsbuttermilk; use fresh with a tbsp. vinegar
1 egg
1 tspsoda
1 tbspcaraway seeds; (optional)

Irish Soda Bread (from Grandma McD) Preparation

Sift floour sugar, salt and baking powder.

Cut in margarine until it resembles coarse cornmeal.

Stir in raisins, (or cranberries!).

Combine buttermilk, egg and soda and stir buttermilk mixture into flour mixture until just moistened.

Bake in greased pan at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes until golden brown
