Original recipe makes 30
3/4 cupsoft butter; (170 grams)
3/4 cuppowdered sugar; (90 grams)
1 egg; (58 grams)
1 teaspoonvanilla; (4 grams)
2 teaspoonspeppermint extract; (9 grams)
1/4 teaspoonsalt; (2 grams)
1 teaspoongreen food coloring or red food coloring; (paste colouring gives a deep shade)
1 3/4 cupsflour; (219 grams)
30 chocolate Hershey's chocolate kisses or chocolate; (139 grams)

Peppermint Christmas Cookies Preparation

Cream together butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and salt.

Add coloring and mix well to distribute color evenly.

Stir in flour.

Shape in 1 inch balls.

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Flatten each by pressing a chocolate in each center.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or until bottom starts to brown.
