Simple cheesy goodness...a true comfort food. This is the Macaroni and Cheese recipe that I grew up with. It's very easy to make, very tasty, and far better than the kind out of the box. I believe my mother may have gotten the recipe from one of her old Betty Crocker cookbooks. I like the recipe because it's so classic and so simple. Today, it's still a family favorite that we enjoy at least two or three times a month.

For a more robust and complex flavor I like using either Tillamook’s Extra Sharp Cheddar or their Vintage White Extra Sharp Cheddar.

I had all the ingredients except for the dry mustard so I just used a little bit of regular yellow mustard. I've made this twice already and both times before adding the milk all my ingredients clumped up. But after adding the milk and stirring it all smoothed out. My previous tries at mac and cheese were a big failure so its nice to finally have a recipe that easy to make and everyone enjoyed.

This was a great recipe for me to build from. The recipe as it is was very bland. I put 1 tsp dry mustard, 3/4 tsp cayenne, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/2 c sharp cheddar, 1/2 c parmesan . It comes out beautifully every time.

Excellent Recipe! I added a head of fresh cut up broccoli to the pasta during the last couple minutes of boiling and then a dash of cayenne to the sauce to give it a little kick. Even the leftovers didn't survive!
