Cooking in a slow cooker makes the meat extra tender. A wonderful way to make beef stew.

Place meat in Crockpot, then pour flour, salt, and pepper over the meat and mix. Add remaining ingredients EXCEPT mushrooms and peas. Mix well. Cook on Low 10-12 hours or High 4-6 hours. Add mushrooms and peas about a half hour before eating. Serve with bread and red wine.

AESG 10 months agoI cooked this on the stove and added Lima beans instead of peas and mushrooms. I also cut back on salt and pepper and added dumplings.

mrscookalot 1 year agocame out great! I took out the mushrooms because my husband hates them, and took out peas because that sounded wired to me and put in green beans and squash.

axs27 3 years agoAgree with the reviews that said it was thin/soup like. To the person who posted the recipe, yes, I followed the directions and used the flour. I added some corn starch to thicken it up.
Amelia06 3 years agoThe stew when made in a slow cooker, is more like soup than stew. In the future I will add some other veggies as well as some tomatoes to liven up the flavor a bit more.

trooper57 4 years agoid give this 3.5 stars if possible. With the exception of the mushrooms, which i dont care for, we made this the same way. We let it cook for 10 hours, but found it to be quite liquidy, i used some instant potato flakes to thicken the stew up and that helped a lot. I would say its a 'solid' meal...its not going to blow your mind, but its good. We will have this again...the kids liked it to.
