Hawaiian Pork Chops

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Meat - Steaks and Chops

This is a recipe that my mother used to make for company and it's become a favorite of my husband's as well.

"Delicious! I left the chops in the skillet and simmered in the sauce for about 20 minutes on low instead of baking. Turned out tender and sweet. Also used the pineapple in juice as opposed to syrup, still wonderful. Will definately make again. " - KatLive

2 tablespoonsButter
1 9-oz canPineapple; in syrup
1/4 cupGreen pepper; chopped
1/4 cupApple Cider Vinegar
1/2 cupKetchup
1 tablespoonSoy sauce
3 tablespoonsBrown sugar
Hot cooked rice

Hawaiian Pork Chops Preparation

In a skillet, brown pork chops in butter over medium-high heat. Transfer to a 2 quart casserole dish. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over pork chops. Cover. Bake at 325? for 1-1/2 hours or until meat is no longer pink. Serve over rice.

Slow Cooker Method. Place browned chops in bottom of slow cooker. Pour sauce over chops. Cover. Cook on high for approx 4 hours or until chops begin to fall apart. Serve over rice.

Notes

If you wish, you can skip the skillet browing and increase the cooking time in the oven or slow cooker. The chops will take slightly longer to cook, but it will save you time in the kitchen.

It was ok. My husband liked it much more than I. I followed to a t other than I only had pineapple in juice not syrup and also added a lil crushed red pepper flake. Cooked it on low for 8 hours (while I was at work). Served over rice. Might make again but will have to try with syrup to see if it makes it a lil more sticky.

I added whipping cream to make the sauce a bit milder.

This has been a favorite at my house for a few years now! I just made it for my parents, sister, and my family last night and everyone loved it!! I always use a fresh pineapple, OJ to substitute for the pineapple juice, a dash or 2 of hot sauce, and I also add garlic because we are huge garlic fans. I cook the pork and sauce in the crock pot for about 2 1/2 hours on high, then add a bag of frozen stir fry mixed veggies and cook an additional hour or till veggies are warmed through. Turns out great every time and even my triplets that are 16 months old eat it up like little piggies! Most of all I love the quick prep and the slow cooker does the rest!!

I liked the taste of the pineapple mixed with the other ingredients. next time I may use fresh pineapple and improvise with the 'syrup'. Very good.

I make this same recipe at least once a month! I substitute the green peppers for red though!
