Bud's Cinnamon French Toast

Recipes »  Breakfast  »  French Toast

This is my husband's recipe for French Toast.

"Great Bud - Thanks. For moister result, add a little more milk (half&half) and let it soak for about 1/2 hr per side to get the center of the bread moist. Add the cinnamon at the end so it will be more evenly distributed before cooking." - foxbluff

Original recipe makes 2
3 largeEggs
1/4 cupmilk
1/2 teaspoonCinnamon; divided use
4 slicesBread
2 teaspoonButter; divided use
Powdered sugar; to taste
Syrup; warmed

Bud's Cinnamon French Toast Preparation

Heat large skillet over medium heat and melt 1 teaspoon of butter. Meanshile, beat together with a fork the eggs, milk and 1/4 teaspoon of the cinnamon in a medium sized bowl (large enough to lay a slice of bread in). Dip two slices of the bread into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides.

Gently place each slice side by side in the skillet and once the bottom side is browned, turn the slices over to brown the second side. Remove to a plate and repeat the process with the other teaspoon of butter and the two remaining slices of bread. Sprinkle each piece of toast lightly with cinnamon and dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Drizzle syrup over the toast and enjoy!

Not bad....but missing something. Maybe brown sugar and less eggs would be better for my taster???? I did try a 2nd batch with the vanilla as suggested...no change really. I also soaked a piece longer as somebody else suggested but that was a messy disappointment.

Easy and great result. I left off the powdered sugar (wish I had some in the house).

Ingredient measurements are perfect; eggs sounded like too many, but would've ended up short if I didn't use the qty it said.

I don't like how the egg cooks on the bread. I have seen this recipe with only egg whites and it worked better.
