Irish dish...a nice side for ham, or you can eat it as a vegetarian main dish
"Loved, loved, loved this recipe. To cut down on time, I substituted instant mashed potatoes for the real ones. Still turned out good...Great dish to make for dinner during the winter months. Quick and easy...Would recommend!!"- skinEminE

Uwe74 8 months agoOh My! This is Super Delish!! Made this a couple of times and overate both times. Only change I made was to add chicken bullion cubes to potato and cabbage water. Yumm-oh!

skinEminE 1 year agoLoved this recipe. Very easy to make and makes a wonderful side dish to just about everything! I might try making it with my corned beef brisket on St Patty's day.
dmerc12 1 year agoDelicious! Recommend it something different added to mash potatoes which I liked!
zedster 2 years agoDelicious. I cut back a little on the cabbage, and it still was great. I'll be making it again.

cynthia63 3 years agoI used this recipe to accompany the Guinness casserole, the amount of cabbage that was to be added to the potatoes was too much, it was supposed to be cooked for only 5 minutes, it seemed under cooked and I had to add more potatoe, I couldnt taste the onion because of all the cabbage, if I did it again I would only use half the amount of cabbage or even less and cook it a bit longer than 5 minutes
promfh 5 years agoI'd not tried colcannon with the addition of cheddar cheese. It's quite good as a side with any savory meat or vegetable dish. I dressed the top with some parsley instead of the traditional slather of butter.
