Absolutely love this recipe. Since finding it I make it almost every weekend for my family!

One of the best variations I've found on this site. I mix it up a bit by using hot sausage flavored with a bit of cumin and cooked with the diced onion

this is pretty much exactly how my mother taught me to make sausage gravy- except totally cut back on the nutmeg, def. 1/4 tsp- but I use the Spicy sausage, and add a little ground sage-

Wonderful combination. I made it vegan style with spike seasoning and morning star sausage.

We didn't use the Tabasco and cut the nutmeg in half. For a little extra grease we sizzled up some applewood smoked bacon(about 6 pieces) and it was amazing

I think I would leave out the nutmeg and tobasco sauce. I like a more creamy tasting gravy although I haven't tried this recipe yet.

I don't like the nutmeg. Maybe personal preference. I didn't grow up with nutmeg in my gravy so it tasted strange to me. I would prefer a spicy rather than sweet taste.

I made this recipe using veggie sausages but first adding them to the cuisinart for a ground sausage texture. Then sauted the sausage with vegan butter to add some fat as the veggie one is pretty lean. The final product rocked!

Nothing goes as well well with biscuits, as does a good rich, creamy, sausage gravy. This simple, tasty sausage gravy fits that bill. I decided to try this recipe because it included nutmeg. I have never used nutmeg in sausage gravy. It made for a very interesting and very delicious taste twist. If your not a nutmeg fancier, you may want to reduce the nutmeg a little -- say, from about 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. -- but don't eliminate it altogether. Nutmeg is what makes this version unique.
