This bread is perfect. It always turns out and it is good fresh, toasted, and made into grilled cheese sandwiches.
Saute onions in butter. Combine dry ingredients using only 1 cup of the white flour. Add onion, butter, and hot water. Mix well, adding flour to make a stiff dough. Knead for 5 minutes. Let rise until doubled. Form loaves and let rise. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes.
