Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

Recipes »  Bread  »  Banana Bread

Almost better for dessert. Can be made in smaller loaves. Reduce baking time to 40 minutes

"I made this recipe tonight and it turned out perfect... In fact, I think it's the first time I've ever made a perfect banana bread:) its not heavy, it never fell, its a beautiful golden color... Like I said, perfect!! Now, to be fair, I made some changes like some others who sent in reviews, but nothing spectacular... I omitted the chocolate chips because I made it for my hubby to take to work and the guys at the firehouse don't really like too many additions (ie if it's banana bread, it should be banana bread, lol) and I added 1/8 c ground flax just for a little added nutrition:) " - Kofletch

Not sure what I did wrong, but found it really heavy (in weight). Tasted good, just dry. Will give it a try again though

I tripled the recipe and made 4 loaves and had to use 2/3 white sugar and 1/3 brown sugar because ran out of white. Turned out excellent, cooked for about 55 mins in propane oven, only thing I would do different next time was bake for about 3-5 mins less but still was very good.

Wow. I sub'd out a few things based on what I had**, and it turned out superbly. I doubled recipe for 2 loaves (good thing, 'cause one loaf vanished almost before cooling). For the 2 cups sugar I used 1 &1/3 cups white sugar and 2/3 cups brown sugar. For the four cups flour I used 1 cup white whole wheat flour, 1 cup rice flour, and 2 cups all purpose. Hubby hates pecans so I added chopped almonds instead. Next time I will increase bananas by 1 or 2, and use bigger chunks to bring the banana flavor front and center. This turned out waaaay yum. It had a caramelized crust almost like a cookie. The chocolate chips make it. Caramelicious chocolate chippy banana-rama bread. **This recipe calls for butter, but I use cooked beans in place of butter when I bake. Using beans means fewer calories, almost no fat, with boosted protein and fiber. Try butter beans or another white bean like great northern in this recipe. Hubby has no idea I fed him butter bean banana bread! He gave it an 11 on a scale of 1-10.
