Best Pie Crust (mom's Pie Crust) Preparation
In a large bowl pour boiling water over the room-temperature lard. Mix it with a fork until it resembles mushy ice cream, making sure all the lard is melted. In a spearate bowl sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix quickly and thoroughly into the water and lard mixture. The dough will be very soft and greasy looking. Form it into 2 balls and chill for several hours or until firm. Roll dough out between two sheets of waxed paper.
Note: This never-fail pie crust must be made in private. No one would believe such an icky looking mess would produce such a marvelous crust.
Notes
This is the very best, easiest to work with, and most foolproof pie crust I've ever found.
It also works well with whole wheat flour
Leftover scraps can be flattened, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and baked to make yummy "pie crust cookies"
