Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. In saucepan, melt butter or margarine. Add onion and cook until tender but not brown. Stir in flour, salt, pepper. Add milk all at once. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add cubed cheese. Stir until melted. Stir into macaroni noodles. Turn into a 1-? quart casserole dish. Bake uncovered in a 350? oven 30-35 minutes. My family enjoys a spoonful of chili served atop the casserole.
