World's Chocolatiest Brownies

Recipes »  Desserts  »  Chocolate

I actually got this recipe from a cookbook (sorry don't know which) in our local library when I was in High School. When I was tired of studying or waiting to be picked up, I would look at cookbooks to pass the time( I get lost in cookbooks!). I always copied down recipes...some I tried, some I kept to try later. Well, this recipe I kept and never tried until I got married! So , I am glad I kept it! This recipe has got to be my favorite recipe for brownies. They are very fudgy/chewy and not cake-like. I made a few additions to it but kept the basic recipe the same.

"I love this recipe and so do my family :-). Brownies didn't last for one night. I used snicker bars cut into small pieces instead of chocolate chips approximately 10 miniature bars. The brownies were baked a little longer than stated in the recipe. All and all this is a recipe I will make over and over. So far I have made the 3 times since finding this recipe last month lol. Thanks for posting

World's Chocolatiest Brownies Preparation

**you can easily double the recipe which I did this time around. I used an 11x 17 pan for double the recipe.

In a medium bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside. In saucepan, over medium heat, bring sugar, butter and water to boil.

Remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup chips and vanilla or any flavoring you like or both! Stir till smooth. Cool 5 minutes. Beat in eggs 1 at a time until well mixed. Add flour mixture and combine.

Add 1 cup (I reserve a handful so I can sprinkle on top...you don't have to) chips and combine quickly so as not to completely melt the chips ( if they do ...it is OK they still come out great!).

Pour into a greased, parchment lined 8x8 square pan. I noticed that the parchment paper helps a great deal.

Since I doubled it, I used an 11 x 17 pan.

Bake in a preheated oven set at 325. for 35 minutes. (if doubling it let bake for an additional 3-5 minutes). Cool completely.

Do I have to use irish cream? Or do I have to substitute it with something else

The best. I make it with milk, dark or a mixture of both and all are great. I also put white buds on the top before baking & it makes a nice caramel type top.

Made it with khalua as it was what I had and added 2 tbsps of red cocoa. A little sweet but good texture. Everyone at work liked them. Next time will add walnuts and use mini choc chips for the 1 cup mix in.

Brownies very chocolatey and gooey, perhaps a bit greasy though. Kids loved them.

I was out of of chocolate chips, so I used 2 cups of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup. I cooked it for about 35-40 minutes, they turned out great.

I bake these a little under the set time, usually to 20/25 minutes so they aren't quite as firm as most brownies and they just fall apart (in the good way) super moist and full of chocolate goodness
