Lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Line the bottom with 1/2 of the bread slices - buttered side down. Combine ham and cheeses - spread evenly over the bread layer. Top with remaining bread slices - buttered side up. Mix eggs, milk, mustard and pepper - pour evenly over the bread. Cover and refrigerate over night. Remove from refrigerator 1 hour before cooking.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cornflakes and butter - spread evenly over casserole. Bake for 1 hour. Let set 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Mattbuechner 2 years agoWe have a family recipe quite similar to this one and didn't want to bother my mother for it - I was quite surprised to find this! Thank you - comfort food at it's best. Also, if you have someone who doesnt eat ham, cut up bratwurst also works well!
RhondaInCinci 3 years agoI made this recipe but used Hawain King bread which added a bit of sweetness. It was very good but didn't cook all the way through. I had to put it back in the oven. Leftovers seemed to be better.
