Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 9x9 pan or line muffin pan with paper liners. In medium bowl, cream togehter the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in preheated oven. For cupcakes bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

hyoder88 2 months agoMake a frosting with 1/2 c softened butter (not melted!) And 1 1/2 c powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 2 Tbsp strawberry jam. FANTASTIC TOPPING! My kids LOVED them!

ees55 4 months agoSuch an easy recipe! I made cupcakes with a fresh raspberry cream cheese filling topped with cream cheese frosting. Will definitely use this cake recipe again because everyone was happy with how they turned out.

mogriff1 9 months agoMade these cupcakes again for a St Patty's day party.....beautiful flavor and taste! But I baked for 24 min which made them a little hard on top when they cooled. Next time I will probably bake about 20-21 minutes. Note to self.
