Sift flour. Mix sugar and butter. Beat until creamy. Add 2 or 3 spoons flour nd 1 egg. Beat thouroughly and continue adding 2 or 3 spoons flour and 1 egg beaten thoughroughly until all have been added.. Then add vanilla and lemon. Bake 325? for 1 1/4 hours.
Optional - Ice with Chocolate Icing.
1 box confectioners sugar sifted. Add 1 1/2 sticks softened butter and a pince of salt. Then add 3/4 cups cocoa, 2 tsp vanilla extract and 1/2 cup milk. Mix gradually to consistency. Add one cup of nuts. Spread evenly over cake.

BreeHoldeman 2 months agoNot as lemony as I had hoped, but still a great tasting cake! I used a couple of dashes of extra sugar and at least a tablespoon of lemon juice but next time I'll be sure to add plenty more of both. I could probably make it taste lemony with a sweet lemon glaze over it. Definitely worth another try though just based on the texture!

cindijackson 4 months agoMade it last night and used almond flavor and some maraschino cherries, then baked in 8' tube pan and it turned out perfect! I'll use this recipe again for sure!

Spousey 1 year agoThe recipe was very easy. We made it for Thanksgiving. Next to the turkey it was the star of the day. Highly recommended. Baked at 325 temp for about an hour.
mrsdbouie 1 year agoTurned out great. Husband just wants me to add more lemon extract. I baked it in bundt pan, next time I think I will try a loaf pan. Overall a A+
