ADD PEANUTS; COOK, STIR OCCASIONALLY, UNTIL MIXTURE REACHES HARD CRACK STAGE (300) REMOVE FROM HEAT. STIR IN BUTTER, VANILLA, SODA, AND SALT. WORK RAPIDLY AND POUR MIXTURE INTO A BUTTERED 15 X 10 X 1 INCH JELLYROLL PAN; SPREAD IN A THIN LAYER. LET COOK COMPLETELY; BREAK INTO PIECES. STIR IN AN AIRTIGHT CONTAINER. YIELD: ABOUT 2 LBS.
