"They aren't exactly chewy, however I got RAVE reviews when I made them. I put some "Ande's" mint chips and "Hershey" kisses on top and I didn't even get one cookie! They ate them all. (Good thing I sneaked a bite of the dough and OH BOY yummy!) I made batch after batch of these cookies over the holidays and I ended up getting 1cookie out of about 60 that I made. Lol I'm definitely making these again."- Jerebel

Top-ranked recipe named "Chewy Sugar Cookies"
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in dry ingredients. Add enough of the buttermilk to moisten the dough and make it soft, not wet.
Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls and place on a ungreased cookie sheet. With a brush or fingers, moisten the top of each cookie with the remaining buttermilk and slightly flatten the top of each cookie. Sprinkle with raw sugar or colored sprinkles.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly golden. Let stand for 2 minutes before removing to cool on a rack.
You can also roll the cookies in the sugar sprinkles before baking.

MrsGulley01 4 months agoVery good and easy to make. Topped off cookies with cinnamon and sugar mixture and others with candy sprinkles. Used sour cream instead of milk... The cookies turned out perfectly chewy. I love this recipe.

ResistanceIsFertile 1 year agoTasty, chewy cookies! Didn't have buttermilk on hand so I used white vinegar and some milk and let it sit 5 minutes. Works the same.

joelle123123 1 year agoVery easy to make. I like a soft cookie so after cooling down store these in a container to moisten them.
brittneymeier 1 year agoThis is one of the best ones ive used!! Though I used sour cream instead of buttermilk, this is a softening secret I learned from my great grandma. Bless her heart. Try it.
