Homestyle hamburger steak...need I say more.
"very good but I ended up with too much gravy. When I make it again I will only use one gravy pkg and instead of adding the onions to the gravy I will leave them out and serve them on the patties and pour the gravy over the onions and patty. The onions seem to get lost in the gravy."- nthogmartin

Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and flour together. Form into patties. Brown both sides. Remove from skillet.
Saute the onions in the same pan, adding a small amount of oil if needed.
After sauteing the onion, remove from skillet.
Prepare gravy and stated on the instructions, bu also all the boullion cube and salt and pepper.
When gravy is made, put steaks and onions in the gravy. Simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking often and adding water to keep gravy from becoming too think.

Jeanf41 11 month agoEasy, quick and delicious! My favorite kind of recipe!
sdfgrl 11 month agoI found the recipe a little hard to follow. (Brown both sides? Do I cook the patties or just enough for both sides to be brown.) It turned out really yummy in the end, though.
Bluve27 11 month agoHubby and kids enjoyed the meal. I found it slightly difficult to make based on the vague instructions provided. For someone who has never made Salisbury steak, or hamburger steak, more detailed instructions on the patty thickness and heat requirements would have made my cooking experience more pleasant. Overall, a good dish for those who like hamburger steak.
mbrannan1972 12 months agoBetter than any hamburger steak I've had.

sarahescanilla 1 year agoDelish! To be a tad bit healthy, I dumped the hamburg grease (85/15) and started with a fresh pan to sauté the onions with a tiny bit of evoo. Since I didn't have gravy packets I used Wondra and there was a recipe for kettle gravy... YUMMY!!! Thank you!!
Cccrawford 1 year agoThe name fits this dish perfect!! This is truly the best hamburger steak I've ever had!!!

tiger123 3 years agoOne of my favorite meals. I didn't have gravy packets so I added beef broth to the onions and added some whorchestershire sauce. I thickened it with a bit of corn powder. In the end it was great meal. Will be cooking this one again.
equineox 4 years agoI'm not clear on the instructions.. are we supposed to follow the instructions on the bullion cube (mixing with water etc) then adding it with the gravy to the pan ?
jusone 4 years agoVery easy to make and was so yummy! I added green peppers to the gravy and poured it over rice. Add greens peas and cheddar bay bisciuts and you've got yourself a good home cooked meal.
