Italian Sausage Skillet Slop

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Main Dish - Other

Great comfort food, my family has been making this for years and it's a favorite.

"this was a super super super easy recipe to make aned it was actually a lot better than I thought. I omitted the peppers as I don't like them cooked, and I also used bow tie pasta. I also used canned diced tomatoes and onion and dried parsley to save some time. I added olive oil and cheese to noodles and cooked before adding to sausage and onion and it really made the noodles good and cheesy :). " - meltxlx

1 canItalian seasoned tomatoes
1 poundRigatoni or other pasta
2 teaspoonsDry basil
1/4 cupParsley; chopped

Italian Sausage Skillet Slop Preparation

Crumble the sausage into a skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring often until meat begins to brown. Add onions and bell pepper. Continue

to cook until the onion is soft, but not brown. Pour off excess fat.

Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add tomatoes (break up with a spoon). Bring to a boil,

reduce heat and simmer about 10 minutes or until thickened. Meanwhile,

cook pasta according to package directions. In a bowl, combine parsley,

basil, 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Add rigatoni and mix.

Pour in the mixture from the skillet and stir. Serve with the remaining

1/4 cup of cheese.

Tried this recipe for the first time tonight. A keeper. I did adjust olive oil down though.

I had to make some little tweaks due to what I had on hand, but it was delicious! My husband and boys all went back for seconds--even my picky eater said he loved it!

Sooooo good and very easy to make. Granted the name of the dish is not appealing, but the taste makes up for it.

I doubled everything except the pasta. I added sliced olives. Next time I will use half as much olive oil and maybe add red pepper flakes. Definitely a keeper. Nice change from marinara soaked pasta.

Recipe sounded delicious but tasted like lipstick or paste, had to mask the flavor with a bottle of italian dressing.

I personally used a whole cup of grated parmesan, & a whole cup of olive oil (made it much easier to mix). It's a new family favorite. My fiance did request that I double the meat next time though.

Loved it even if I used processed Parmesan - another keeper. Quick, simple, tasty and filling

My husbands new favorite! It was yummy! Added 2 cans of Italian diced tomatoes and didn't put the extra Parmesan on top as it's not our favorite cheese- and it was perfect! Thanks for posting!

This was great! My husband rated it in his top 5 recipes I've ever fixed :) I used 2 fresh tomatoes instead of canned and replaced the bell pepper with a zucchini from our garden...I think I'll use 3 tomatoes next time but this was great

Great recipe. I used penne rigate. Added hot pepper flakes, and used Trader Joes marinara sauce, and lots of home grown garlic (taste so much better). Thanks so much for posting. Im giving you a medal for this one.
