Pistachio Nut Cake From Angelett

This is my husbands favorite cake, he gets it every January for his birthday cake. Moist and great pudding icing if you don't want a sugar icing. Try it! It's a family favorite! Enjoy!

1 package Yellow Cake Mix
1 package Pistachio Pudding instant
3 Eggs
1 cup Vegetable oil
1 cup Club Soda
Nuts; Walnuts, Pistachio nuts or your choice
3 cups milk
2 packages Dream Whip
2 packages Pistachio Pudding instant
1/2 cup Additional Nuts; if desired

Original recipe makes 12



Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Grease and flour a bundt pan. Blend all cake ingredients except nuts well. Beat for a couple minutes, add nuts; mix well. Pour batter into prepared bundt pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan, cool on rack. Split cake into 2 layers. Spread, frosting between each layer. I then frost the outside of the cake and garnish with more nuts. If you want a 3 layer cake and to be able to frost the layers and the outside I use 3 packages of Dream Whip, 3 packages of Pistachio Pudding adn 4 1/2 cups of millk. We like a lot of frosting.

Dream Whip is an instant whipped topping often used to give desserts texture without adding heavy cream or fat to a 'light' recipe. You can try this substitute, which is probably healthier than the original: 1/2 cup cold water, 2/3 cup powdered milk, 1 dash salt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 3 tbsps butter, 1 tbsp vanilla, http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-whipped-topping-substitute-or-dream-whip-187125 Frankly, my mom used to make this when I was a kid, and she would either use a simple powdered sugar and milk glaze, or she'd just brush it with lemon and lime juice, substituting lemon-lime soda for the club soda! Both taste great!

the recipe just says to spread the frosting. How do you make the frosting. Just mix all the ingredients? Cook it?
