Slow Cooker Barbecued Beef

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Slow Cooker

This recipe is from the 'Slow Cooker Recipe Collection' cook book. My family has become extremely picky when it comes to crockpot recipes, but crockpots use very little electricity, and cheaper cuts of meat can be used for the recipes. This one was a hit. It can be put together the evening before cooking, and cook during the day while you're at work. Very easy!

Servings
Original recipe makes 12
3 lb.Boneless chuck roast; trim the fat from the roast
1 1/2 cupsKetchup
1/4 cupBrown sugar; packed
1/4 cupRed wine vinegar
2 tablespoonDijon mustard
1 teaspoonLiquid smoke
1/2 teaspoonSalt
1/4 teaspoonBlack pepper
1/4 teaspoonGarlic powder
2 tablespoonWorcestershire Sauce
sandwich buns

Slow Cooker Barbecued Beef Preparation

Place the roast in a 3.5 quart or larger crockpot. Combine remaining ingredients in a large bowl and whisk to mix. Pour sauce mixture over the roast. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or 4-5 hours on high. When the roast is fork tender, skim and remove the grease with a large spoon. Remove the roast from the crockpot, and shred it with a fork. Place the shredded meat back into the sauce in the crockpot, and stir to evenly coat the meat with the sauce. Spoon meat onto sandwich buns, and top with additional sauce, if desired.

I don't know if it was my cut of beef or what, but I had a very hard time getting the meat to shred. I ended up having to cut it into slices and serve it like that.

The recipe is absolutely delicious. My family really enjoyed it. Even my son who is a very picky eater had a third helping. Thank you!

Loved the BBQ sauce, will use it for other dishes!! Quick, easy and great! Definitely a redo! Make sure to trim the meat very well.

The meat turned out awesome. It was insanely tender and the sauce gave the meat a good flavor. Unfortunately there was a lot of grease from the meat, so I ended up adding some off the shelf bbq sauce to it after shredding.
