Cajun Chicken Pasta

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Pasta

Serve up a spicy dinner for two with this hot and creamy linguini tossed with an eye-opening blend of chicken strips sauteed with Cajun seasoning, colorful bell peppers, mushrooms and onions. Cream, basil, lemon pepper and garlic powder finish the sauce.

"Great Recipe! i made my own changes but could have never done it without this recipe. Here is what I changed (family loved it!!) ... i needed to make more so i doubled the recipe and i used 2 cups of heavy cream and 1 cup of regular milk.... I used shrimp instead of chicken adding the shrimp after sauté of vegetables. I added a few caps of liquid crab to the water when boiling the noodles. After i mixed the noodles and the sauce together i added a 3oz can of parmesan cheese and mixed well. This was awesome! Crab boil gives it that cajun kick!

Servings
Original recipe makes 2 Servings
4 ouncelinguine pasta
2 chicken breast halves; cut up
2 teaspoonsCajun seasoning
2 tablespoonsButter
1 Green bell pepper; chopped
1/2 red bell pepper; chopped
1 green onion; minced
1 1/2 cupsHeavy cream
1/4 teaspoonDried basil
1/4 teaspoonlemon pepper
1/4 teaspoonSalt
1/8 teaspoonGarlic powder
1/8 teaspoonBlack pepper
2 tablespoonsParmesan cheese; grated

Cajun Chicken Pasta Preparation

1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add linguini pasta, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente; drain.

2. Meanwhile, place chicken and Cajun seasoning in a bowl, and toss to coat.

3. In a large skillet over medium heat, saute chicken in butter until no longer pink and juices run clear, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add green and red bell peppers, sliced mushrooms and green onions; cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Reduce heat, and stir in heavy cream. Season the sauce with basil, lemon pepper, salt, garlic powder and ground black pepper, and heat through.

4. In a large bowl, toss linguini with sauce. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Exactly down to the letter same recipe, except it contains mushrooms. (Well, you forgot to take them out of the directions but left them in the ingredient list) - Firebyrd Firebyrd

oops! I meant left them OUT of the ingredient list but left them in the directions *bites hand* - Firebyrd Firebyrd

A variation on this recipe

This one is exactly the same down to text formatting also, except it uses a jar of alfredo sauce instead of any heavy cream, added sundried tomatoes, and omitted lemon pepper. - Firebyrd Firebyrd

Personally, I prefer making it this way

Finally, mine didn't use any prepared sauce, but did add the tomatoes, more parmesan cheese, and omit the lemon pepper! I also included instructions on how to get the pasta al dente for our beginning cooks here =) - Firebyrd Firebyrd

I LOVE this recipe!! I've made this at least 5 times since the first time I made it and it seems to get better and better every time I make it. Highly recommended! For a little extra spice, I put in a bit of crushed red pepper seasoning. Delicious!!

My family and I loved it!!!!!! Instead of adding to bell peppers and mushrooms I added red pepper flakes. I will most definitely be making this again.

This was delicious! I added some shredded cheese to the sauce to thicken it up. This will be going in my recipe rotation!

This was delicious. It was not to heavy but not too light. If you like it spicy like I do, definitely add more seasoning.

Great recipe. I agree that adding shrimp will add an extra spark. BTW: mushrooms appear on the recipe but not on the grocery list :(

Delish! Added a little flour at the end to thicken the sauce a little. Boyfriend loved it! Me too! :-)

I loved it! Next time I might make the sauce a little more favorable but it was perfect for most people.

This was a great recipe, my family and I lived it. The only thing I would change is the salt, I'm going to leave that out next time, with all the other spices it makes it a little too salty for our liking. We added shrimp and that made it even better. We'll be making this again for sure!

I didn't use the onion and added some french onions to the top once I put it on my plate. AMAZING!
