Crumb Pie - Shoefly Pie
Original recipe makes 8
| Mix and cut in well |
| 3 cupsFlour |
| 1 cupShortening; crisco |
| ADD |
| 3/4 cupSugar; or better |
| 1/4 teaspoonSalt |
| Reserve 1/2 cup for topping |
| MIX |
| 1 cupDark molasses |
| 1 teaspoonBaking soda |
| 1 cupWater; boiling |
| 1 9"unbaked pie crust |
Crumb Pie - Shoefly Pie Preparation
350? 25-30 minutes
Mix and cut in well, flour and crisco. Add Sugar and salt to creat crumbs.
Reserve 1/2 cup of crumbs. (Set aside)
Mix molasses, baking soda and boiling water. Add to crumb mixture.
Place in 9" pie dish. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture on top.
Bake.
