"We can't get Tilapia in Australia so used herring and gar. Pan frying I found it was too easy to burn so used oven next attempt. I used olive oil, less red pepper and no salt. Also I used a shaker to add coating for better control and less mess. Tasted great."

Ingredients

4 Tilapia; (up to 6)
2 tbsp Paprika
Salt; to taste
2 tsp lemon pepper
1.5 tsp garlic powder
1.5 tsp ground red pepper
1.5 tsp dried; crushed basil
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried thyme
1 cup unsalted butter; melted

Original recipe makes 4 Servings

Preparation

Preheat Oven at 350. Mix all seasonings in a bowl.

Dip fillets in melted butter and coat with seasonings. Put in a glass baking dish and cook until fish is easily flaky with a fork.

Or if wanting to pan fry

Heat iron skillet on high 5 minutes. Mix all seasonings in a bowl. Dip fillets in melted butter and coat with seasonings. Place fillets in hot skillet and cook 2 minutes on each side.

Notes

I've started putting the seasoning in a shaker as suggested by another user and it works great!

Awesome. This recipe (minus the salt) produces a restaurant-worthy blackened fish. I love it so much, I keep a spice jar filled with the separated ingredients (looks nice too) on hand for easy weeknight blackened tilapia. Thanks for posting!

This recipe is so good! I used 1 tsp of coriander instead of lemon pepper and olive oil instead of butter. So much flavor with the right amount of heat! Will definitely make this again!

Seemed like a whole bunch of spices just thrown on the fish. It was decent, not terrible. Probably won't make it again :(

Very good! Great taste and very quick. Reduced red pepper to 3/4 tsp based on other reviews but will increase to 1 full tsp next time. Added no salt & used unsalted butter per recipe; was not salty.

This recipe actually turned out better than I thought it would. A bit on the salty side, but I threw it with a Caesar salad and the family enjoyed it.

Excellent recipe... I do not add the salt. It isn't needed. I do ad Cajun spice ( personal preference.. Love it!) I make this at least once a week!!! I served with green beans n broiled peppers
