These cheesy potatoes are always welcome at our dinner table, and they're so simple to make. A perfect compliment to ham, this versatile, homey side dish also goes well with pork, chicken and other entree.

In a large saucepan, melt butter over low hear. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in cheese until melted. Add potatoes and onion; stir well.
Transfer to a greased 2-qt baking dish. Cover and back at 350? for 1 hour. Uncover; back 30-40 minutes longer or until the potatoes are tender.
AESG 4 months agoI added dried breadcrumbs on top during the last 20 minutes and reduced the salt.

Stefl217 4 years agoThis recipe was VERY SALTY!!!! We could not eat these potatoes! If I was to try this again I would cut out the salt altogether!
