Family favorite for Strawberry Shortcake
"Quick and easy. It made great shortcakes for dessert last night. I'm having leftovers for breakfast this morning. The cakes are just sweet enough to enjoy with coffee. Yum!"- fairtaxmom

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk and blend just until milk is absorbed.
Drop dough onto ungreased baking sheet ending up with 12 cakes. Press the cakes slightly to about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter.
Bake 10 - 12 minutes.
To Serve: Cool slightly, slice in half and add butter. Top with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

michellebolhuis 6 months agoVery good, I cut the sugar to 1/3 cup and used butter instead of shortening. Still very good! Will make again this summer since we love strawberries.
samanthaschaffner 1 year agoVery moist and easy recipe! Only thing I would change is somehow to get the baking powder (taste) to become invisible. Any suggestions? Thanks for the recipe!!!
