Steffie's Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Recipes »  Desserts  »  Cobblers

We love apples and cinnamon. This is easy to make. Great served as is or with ice cream or whipped topping.

"I had some unexpected dinner guests on this cold, snowy day. Luckily, I had made a crockpot full of beef stew, and some homemade rolls and a big green salad. To round out the meal, I was able to throw this dessert together quickly and easily, with things that I already had on hand. The apples and cinnamon filled the house with a nice homey aroma, and served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, this definitely was the hit of the meal!" - sandybrown1956

Steffie's Cinnamon Apple Crisp Preparation

Peel, core and slice apples thinly. In a large Ziplock baggie, add the apples, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Seal and shake to coat the apples. Pour into a lightly greased 9x13 baking dish. In a medium bowl, add the oats, flour, brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Stir to mix. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly. I use a large fork. Sprinkle the topping over the apples and spread to cover completely. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 15 minutes or so before serving, it is extremely hot!

This is really good. It's a great desert to make in a pinch. My kids ate all the cookies I had planned to serve for desert tonight and I was able to throw this together in about 10 minutes from what I had in the pantry. I think it needs a longer baking time though. Maybe 1 hour for more tender apples. I will definitely make this again.

This recipe was a big hit last night. Easy to make, too. I used apples with about a tbl of brown sugar and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Great dish.
