Original recipe makes 6
1 1/2 poundExtra lean ground beef
1 tablespoonOnion powder
1 teaspoonGarlic; minced
3/4 cupKetchup
1/2 cupGreen bell pepper; chopped
1/2 cupCelery; chopped
1/4 cupWater
2 tablespoonBrown sugar
2 tablespoonMustard
2 tablespoonWorcestershire Sauce
1 1/2 teaspoonChili powder
6 Pita Bread Pockets

Sloppy Joes, Crock Pot Version Preparation

Cook meat, onion and garlic in pan. Spray crock pot with cooking spray and transfer meat mixture to the crock pot. Combine ketchup, bell pepper, celery, water, br. sugar, mustartd, Worcestershire sauce, and chili powder in slow cooker. Stir into meat. Cover and cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours or on high heat for 3 to 4 hours.

Spoon mixture into pita pockets and serve.

my mom and i tried it and i couldn't even eat a full serving of this.

It was a little too sweet for my taste. Definitely would NOT cook it for longer than 4 hrs, I added 4 more oz of water then recipe called for & it burned in 6 hrs. Would make it again with less sugar & less cook time

It was good but nothing spectular,made a crock pot to share at our polling station. I was hoping for raves from the crew but only drew a few it was good comments. Oh well will look for another recipe for our next election. If you are up in the air about this recipe I would tell you to give it a try and see for yourself, I thought it was good enough for a second try with some tweaks.
