hodgepodge4 ,Flour didn't mix. Not very sweet. Didn't really like it. A bit disappointed.12y
niksujoksu ,i somehow managed to make apple porridge out of the apples and the flour even when i boilet the apple slices only about 7 min total... now it's in the oven, we'll see how the taste turns out with so little sugar. also i can't understand people why you use some store crust? making it yourself gives the pie much fresser taste!12y

mhutch7338 ,I am not really a baker so I don't like recipes to difficult. I found this one very easy to follow and quick. My apple turned out great and the family loved every last little bit. Definately would recommend this recipe. Yummy!13y
ericruff ,I like very much the technique of pre-cooking the apples; it solves the problem of the apple slices in the center being too crunchy while the slices near the edge being overcooked which can happen with raw apple slices put right into the crust. The consistency is quite even with this recipe and controllable. My only nitpicking is the with the spices; I don't find cloves appropriate in apple pie; in fact I find even nutmeg distracting, though many recipes call for it. Rather I would go for a full tsp of cinnamon. Of course this is the epitome of a matter of "personal taste." On the whole, however, I find this approach to apple pie to be eye-opening I will continue to use is from now on. Wonderful!13y
sgrishka ,Very good pie...really delicious! The filling had great consistency, not too runny nor too gooey and the spice blend was really good. Precooking the apples separately allowed for full control of their texture. I followed the recipe as is except I used my own all butter pie crust and blind-baked the bottom crust to ensured that it would be crisp and flaky all the way through.14y
chefhoward76 ,This is a wonderful apple pie recipe! I followed directions exactly and used a wide variety of apples. I did make a pie crust from scratch but the filling was excellent. Very easy. Very tasty. I highly recommend.14y
hungrykitten ,The secret here is pre-cooking the apple mixture. Many recipes use raw apples in the crust. This apple pie secret creates a perfect consistency with well distributed flavor that is not too wet or doughy. You can expand this recipe by adding cheddar cheese on top instead of the Demerara, add cranberries to the apple mixture at the beginning when boiling the water, walnuts can also be added. [I posted this recipe.]14y
