2 cupsFlour
2 cupsSugar
1 stickbutter
1/2 cupshortening
1 cupstrong coffee; or water
1/4 cupdark cocoa
1/2 cupbuttermilk
2 Eggs
1 teaspoonBaking soda
1 teaspoonVanilla
1 stickbutter
2 Tablespoonsdark cocoa
1/4 cupmilk
3 1/2 cupsconfectioner's sugar
1 teaspoonVanilla

Texas Sheet Cake Brownies Preparation

Combine flour and sugar.

In heavy saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling.

Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well at high speed.

Pour into greased 11 x 17 jelly roll pan and bake at 400 for 20 minutes or until brownies test done in center.

Prepare frosting while brownies bake. In saucepan, combine butter, cocoa and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Mix in 10x sugar and vanilla until frosting is smooth. Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven.

NOTES : Can substitute 1/2 cup milk mixed with 2 teaspoons vinegar or lemon juice for buttermilk.
