To make sauce: Cook onion in butter over medium heat until translucent, stir in flour until bubbly, slowly add milk while stirring; stir until sauce thickens, stir in cheese until melted; remove from heat. Scalloped Cheesy Ham and Potatoes Preparation
Heat oven to 350. Wash potatoes and slice thinly. In greased 2-qt casserole, arrange potatoes, ham, and cheese in 4 layers, sprinkling each layer with 1 tbsp onion, 1 tbsp flour, 1/4 tsp salt, a dash of pepper, and dotting each with 1 tbsp butter. Heat milk just to scalding and pour over potatoes. Cover and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 60-70 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving.
