| 2 lbbeef brisket; chopped into chunks |
| 1/2 lbdaikon radish; peeled and chopped into chunks |
| 1/2 lbcarrots; peeled and chopped into chunks |
| 1/2 lbturnips; peeled and chopped into chunks |
| 8 slicesginger |
| 1 green onion; cut into 2-inch sections |
| 3 clovesGarlic; crushed |
| 1 1/2 canhoisin sauce; 3 tbs |
| 2 tspSugar |
| 1/4 cupSoy sauce |
| vegetable stock; enough to cover |
| 1 stickcinnamon |
| 1 piecemandarin peel; dried |
| cornstarch slurry |
Chinese beef and root vegtables in crock pot Preparation
- Chop beef and vegetables into large chunks.
- Layer vegetables, ginger, onion, garlic and beef in crock pot
- Mix chu hou sauce, sugar, soy sauce, and two cups of stock until sugar is disolved
- Add sauce mixture to crock pot
- Add enough stock to cover
- Add cinnamon and mandarin peel
- Cook on low heat for 10-12 hours
- Thicken sauce with cornstarch slurry
