This is a basic recipe for an easy & foolproof breakfast egg casserole. Substitute any meat (bacon, sausage, ham, etc.). Easily made the night before.

"If you leave the sausage on top, it dries out. Best to squish it into the egg/bread mix. Also, it baked for about 60 minutes. Don't forget to spray the casserole dish, too." - spsearch

Original recipe makes 12
6 slicesbread; cubed
1 poundsausage; browned, drained
7 cupsCheddar cheese; shredded
8 Eggs; beaten
2 cupsmilk
1 teaspoonSalt
1 pepper; to taste

Basic & Easy Egg Casserole Preparation

Cube bread and place evenly in greased 9x13 pan or baking dish.

Sprinkle evenly with sausage and cheese.

Mix eggs, milk, salt an pepper.

Pour over ingredients in pan.

May cover and chill overnight. If left overnight, remove from refrigerator 15 minutes before baking.

Bake 45 minutes at 325 degrees or until set.

Cut into squares to serve.
