1 tablespoonolive oil
1 poundground turkey breast
3 green bell peppers; seeded and diced
4 Onions; chopped
6 clovesGarlic; minced
1 tablespoonground cumin
2 teaspoonsdried oregano
1/2 teaspooncayenne pepper
3 bay leaves
1 28-oz cancrushed tomatoes
2 15-oz canblack beans; rinsed and drained
1 15-oz canfat-free refried beans
1 4-oz candiced green chiles; rinsed and drained
2 jalapenos; sliced (remove the seeds to reduce heat level)

Spicy Turkey-Bean Chili Preparation

In a large sauce;pan or Dutch oven, heat the oil. Add the turey, bell peppers, onions, garlic, cumin, oregano, cayenne and bay leaves; cook, stirring as needed until the turkey is browned and the vegetables are softened, 6-8 minutes.

Add the tomatoes, beans, chiles and jalapenos, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, stirring as needed, until the flavors are well blended, about 45 minutes. Discard bay leaves.

This was out-of-this-world! I followed the instructions as written, but added the meat and veggie mixture to the tomato mixture in the crock pot! Only substitution we made was kidney beans instead of refried beans. It was a big hit with everyone!
