Bread Pudding

Recipes »  Bread  »  Breads - Other

I have tried a lot of bread puddings; however, this is still the best one. I got this recipe from Southern Living.

"Really easy recipe, but I put it in an 8x8 pan, so it was thin, as that's the only pan I had. Since it was so thin, I took it out of oven @ 43 min, as was starting to burn. Everyone really liked it, cause the top was caramelized. I used 3/4 c. agave instead of the sugar. Could probably use less cause it was sweet, but others said no, keep it just like that, and don't make it thicker."

3 Eggs; lightly beaten
1 1/2 cupssugar
2 tablespoonbrown sugar
1/2 teaspoonground nutmeg
1/4 cupbutter; melted
2 3/4 cupswhipping cream
4 cupsFrench bread cubes
3/4 cupraisins

Bread Pudding Preparation

Combine first 4 ingredients, stir in butter and whipping cream. Gently stir in bread and raisins. Pour into a lightly greased 2 quart souffle or deep baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 60 to 65 minutes, shielding with foil after 30 minutes to prevent excessive browning. Let pudding stand for 10 minutes before serving warm. This is the best if you make up the pudding ahead of time and let it sit in the refrigerator for several hours, before cooking it.
