In a large bowl stir flour, dry milk, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening or lard until mixture is like cornmeal. Add water, stirring with a fork until it clings together. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth (about 5 minutes). Divide into 6 balls. Press each ball out. Fry in 1 inch of hot oil browning both sides until crispy.

melarky 3 years agoI posted this recipe, and we love it at our house. It's a quick easy way to make a soft navajo fry bread that stays soft after frying. We love to make extras and whip up some maple frosting to put on them for desert.
melarky 4 years agoWhen we make these, we will often make extras that we use for desert with a simple maple frosting (butter, icing sugar, and maple flavoring). They are a family favorite and always turn out nice and fluffy and taste great. [I posted this recipe.]
