1 cupFlour
1.5 teaspoonbaking powder
0.5 teaspoonSalt
2 tablespoonsSugar
1 egg
0.5 cupmilk
0.5 teaspoonvanilla extract
3 largeapples; medium thick slices
1 Canola oil

Old Fashioned Apple Fritters Preparation

Preheat about a 1/4 inch oil in a non-stick frying pan. Heat on aproximately medium.

Peel and slice three medium to large apples. You should have about four to five slices each. You can use a 2 liter bottle lid to punch out the center of the slices.

Mix the dry ingredients in one bowl. Whisk egg, milk, and vanilla in a seperate bowl. Pour egg mixture into dry ingredients and stir into a smooth batter.

Dip apple slices into batter to coat evenly. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Dust with confectionary sugar and ground cinnamon. Serve while warm.

Serve with a warm glass of milk, or a hot cup of coffee. Also goes well as a side for pancakes or french toast. [I posted this recipe.]
