Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Meat - Steaks and Chops

This dish has a hearty, home, and comforting feeling. The meat becomes so tender and so moist it melts in your mouth. I love to pair this meal with rice or garlic mashed potatos. AND when I'm in the mood to be over board and greedy I'll do both! ;) I knw that sooooo bad. But I always serve a green vegetable no matter what I pair this dish with. Sauteed broccoli is my fav! Sometimes I change up to spinach. Either way this dish is DELICIOUS!!!!!! and I hope u get an opportunity to enjoy!!!

"The steak had the exact taste and texture of salisbury steak, but the sauce needed a bit more flavor. I added a cap-ful of Kitchen Bouquet to the sauce to boost the flavor. Additionally, I found the sauce to lack the thickness of gravy, too runny to call it anything more than Au Jus with mushrooms. I will make this again and "tweek" the recipe to meet my needs. All in all, this is added to my "Favorites" tab." - Food-Freak

Loved it! I didn't add the cognac since I don't have any and I didn't want to buy a whole bottle just for a bit, but I can tell you it didn't need it! It was hit! My husband loved it and OMG it was so good!

This was a wonderful recipe. I did have some trouble with the burgers falling apart but was easy to make. I will definitely make this again.

flavors were ok but my patties fell apart. I made four patties. I ate one my b.f ate one and I threw the other two away. B.f said it reminded him of baby food. I probably won't make again

Phenomenal! I didn't have cream of mushroom so I used cream of chicken. I used cognac and the knorr brown gravy mix. It was a fantastic dish. Not a big fan of rice so I served it on Texas toast (cause I'm crazy for the white bread). Next time ill make smaller patties for the kids though.

It was better then ok and my bf really liked it however I could make a similar tasting meatloaf that's 1/2 the time so I may never make again but it's def worth a try for anyone else reading the reviews! Like I said it was good just more effort then my meatloaf and it was just about the same thing that's all!

Entire family loved this. I made as directed, used the cognac. The sauce was absolutely rich and delicious. The only change I would make is to make 8 smaller patties. You must serve this with mashed potatoes and spoon the extra sauce over them. This rocked our weeknight meal. Thanks for posting

Excellent!!! I did cut down the onion portion in half and I added 2 teaspoons of Worcester to the mix. I had to add about 2 tablespoons of corn starch to thicken up the gravy. Overall I think it was really good!!! We ate it with mashed potatoes

I skipped the cream of mushroom soup b/c I didn't have any, also used fresh onions instead of frozen and tenderized flank steak strips. All other directions were followed accordingly, though I did use a 1/4 c milk in the mixture since I didn't have the soup. My only recommendation would be to cut down the cook time by at least five minutes to keep the gravy from drying up. My husband and kids loved it
