Original recipe makes 1
2 cupsWater
2 tea bags; black (regular or decaf)
1 2" stickscinnamon
6 peppercorns; whole
0.5 teaspoonnutmeg; freshly grated, up to 1 teaspoon
3 cardamom pods; crushed
0.5 cupmilk
Sweetener (e.g. honey, sugar, stevia); to taste

Chai Preparation

Combine all ingredients except milk and sweetener in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to a simmer.

Simmer for 5 minutes.

Stir in sweetener and milk.

Pour into mug through a fine strainer.
