Sarah's Favorite Pork Chops & Cinnamon Apples

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Meat - Steaks and Chops

My oldest daughter absolutely loves to eat this. In fact, we have to fight her to share the sweet cinnamon apples. There is never any leftovers with this meal.

"Yum, Yum and more Yumms! My little ones usually won't eat pork chops but when I served these they cleaned their plates. My husband wants me to add a splash of vinegar next time to make a sweet-and-sour version."

Sarah's Favorite Pork Chops & Cinnamon Apples Preparation

Season pork chops with salt & pepper to taste. Set aside.

Take cored & peeled apples and cut into slices.

Heat a medium sized saucepan and add oil. Add sliced onion and garlic and saute until softened. Add pork chops and sear each side for 1-2 minutes. Set porkchops with onion and garlic in a 13 x 9 baking pan, cover, and place in warm oven at 200 deg F, while making apples.

In a separate small sauce pan, melt butter. Add brown sugar, apples, apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir occasionally until apples are just beginning to get tender. When your apples are almost tender, increase your oven temperature to 350 deg F.

Add a tablespoon of conrnstarch to saucepan on stove to thicken sauce and stir for another minute. Pour sauce over porkchops and bake covered in oven at 350 deg for 30-35 minutes.

Notes

I like to serve this meal with mashed potatoes on the side.

We really enjoyed this recipe. My husband and I did not grow up with this flavor combo so this was a nice change. Very easy and wonderful fall/winter flavors! Thanks for sharing.
