Original recipe makes 6 Servings
16 ounce packagedried split peas; rinsed
1 cupcarrots; chopped
1 cupyellow onion; chopped
2 ribs celery plus leaves; chopped
2 clovesGarlic; minced
1 bay leaf
1/4 cupchopped fresh parsley
1 Salt and pepper to taste
Liquid smoke; to taste (start with a teaspoon and
6 cupsVegetable broth

Vegetarian Split Pea Soup Preparation

Layer ingredients in crock pot in the given order, adding the broth last. Do not stir ingredients. Cover and cook on high 4—5 hours or on low 8—10 hours until peas are very soft. It will thicken up once you stir it and the peas should look almost pureed.
