A great recipe to do a corned beef in a slow cooker that doesn't use a large amount of sugar. Very reliable and easy.
1. Rinse beef under cold water and pat dry with paper towel. Place beef, vinegar and golden syrup and spices in a 4.5 litre slow cooker. Add enough water to barely cover the beef. Cook, covered, on low, for 8 hours.
2. Make onion sauce just before serving.
3. Remove beef from the cooker, discard water
4. Slice beef thickly, serve with horseradish sauce.
Horseradish Sauce
1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, on low heat.
2. Add the onions until opaque, then add flour, stirring until smooth.
3. Gradually add the milk, stirring, until sauce boils and thickens.
5 Season
Beautiful served with steamed or mashed potatoes and seasonal fresh greens.
