From my my Mom's recipe box, written on the back of a meal check from a BBQ place. One of my childhood favorites.
Bring the sugar and syrup to a boil.
Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla, then add the crispy rice cereal.
Press into a 9X13 pan and allow to cool.
Cut into bars.
