| 1 cupbutter; softened |
| 3/4 cupsugar |
| 2 Eggs |
| 1 teaspoonvanilla extract |
| 1/2 teaspoonalmond extract |
| 2 cupsall-purpose flour |
| 1 teaspooncream of tartar |
| 1/2 teaspoonbaking soda |
| 1/4 teaspoonsalt |
| 1/4 teaspoonground nutmeg |
| frosting: |
| 1/4 cupbutter; softened |
| 3 cupsconfectioner~quotes sugar |
| 1 teaspoonalmond extract |
| 2 to 4 tablespoons hot water |
| food; coloring |
Soft Sugar Cookies Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, vanilla and almond extract.
Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; gradually
add to creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto
ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10n minutes or until light brown. Remove to wire
racks to cool.
For frosting:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, confectioner's sugar, almond
extract and enough water to achieve desired consistency. Tint with food
coloring, if desired. Frost the cookies.
Notes
Instead of making the frosting from scratch, you can buy canned vanilla frosting and add almond extract
